The late 17th-century notebook of the north Devon plasterer John Abbott

The late 17th-century notebook of the north Devon plasterer John Abbott

The late 17th-century notebook of the celebrated north Devon plasterer John Abbott is one of the great treasures held in the the Devon Record Office, Exeter. It contains drawings of fireplaces, ceilings and other architectural features, with sketches copied from printed sources.  The sketchbook is of great interest in illustrating the design sources of a major figure in the decorative arts of the 17th century.
