Call for PMA Reviews Editor

Tuesday 21 September 2021

PMA Reviews Editor

PMA is looking for a new Reviews Editor to coordinate and lead on the delivery of book reviews for publication.

The position will involve:

  • Building the journal’s existing network of publishers
  • Coordinating and agreeing publications for review with the editorial team
  • Sourcing and managing reviewers through the review process
  • Expanding the network internationally through readership and other channels
  • Using the Journal’s online submission system
  • Copy-editing reviews on a rolling basis for online-first publication
  • Being proactive in improving the reviews experience for journal readership and expanding contributions
  • Providing reviewing opportunities and advice for members of the SPMA PhD group

We are looking for someone interested in supporting the development of the Society’s international network, who may be an early- to mid-career archaeologist with experience of both field and academic practice in post-medieval archaeology and relevant adjacent fields, as well as emergent trends in archaeological method and theory.

There is scope within the role to develop it in new ways, such as expanding online publication, commissioning longer review papers, or reviewing beyond books.

The position would overlap with and work alongside the current reviews editor for the 2022 cycle.

This is a voluntary role.

Applicants should be members of, or be willing to join, the Society for Post-Medieval Archaeology.
If you are interested in applying, please email editor@spma.org.uk with a short cover note.

Application deadline = Friday 29 October 2021
