SPMA seeks Student Rep for Council

Tuesday 15 September 2015

There is currently a vacancy for a new Student Representative (3-year term) on the SPMA Council to start in December 2015. Council Members must also be members of the SPMA, and the Student Rep should be a current registered student at a Higher Education Institution. The Student Rep has responsibility for promoting the SPMA and its activities among students, and representing the concerns of students on Council.

SPMA Council carries out much of its business during quarterly Council meetings at locations across Britain - reasonable travel expenses for attendance are reimbursed. As the Society for Post-Medieval Archaeology is a registered charity, the Members of Council are its trustees; they ensure that the charity is running well and does what it was set up to do. You can find out more about being a charity trustee on the Charity Commission website.

Interested in standing for election? In order to consider potential applicants, we would like you to provide a summary of your qualifications and experience, and what you feel you could bring to the role of Student Rep. Please send this statement to the SPMA’s Secretary at secretary@spma.org.uk at your earliest convenience, and ideally by 9th October 2015. All of the candidates will be considered by Council and we will make a recommendation of our preferred candidate to the AGM at the Society of Antiquaries on 14th December. Any SPMA member can also put themsleves up for election at the AGM, by submitting a nomination to the Secretary 21 days in advance of the meeting.
