The Society for Post-Medieval Archaeology

Research Grants

The Society makes small grants to its members, twice a year as resources permit, to enable research projects and publications to be undertaken on the post-medieval archaeology of Britain, Europe and the wider world, from c.1500 to the present day. Each grant proposal is subject to a maximum of £1,500 and the total fund available in any single application round will be £1,500.

Applications are considered twice a year, with deadlines for submission on 1 March and 1 September. Successful applicants will be informed by 1 May and 1 November respectively, and must submit a report about their project for inclusion on this website and in the Society's newsletter.

You can apply for a research grant by filling out an application form (available as a pdf or word document), and emailing it to the Grants Coordinator at grants@spma.org.uk

Grant holders can download a copy of the Society logo for use on reports and publicity associated with their funded activities.
